KX:1
00The Principal

Rikki Lear

The Architect.

The methodology behind KX:1 Apex is not theoretical. It has been built across thirty years of real-world practice — inside commercial leadership at senior level, elite sport, and the martial tradition — and every framework, every tool, and every session is calibrated to the actual environment where results are decided.

The mark of this work is not what happens in the room. It is what the principal does with the twelve months that follow.

The work is precise. It is also, at its best, deeply personal. Every engagement begins with a genuine attempt to understand not just what is presenting — but what is actually operating beneath it. That distinction is everything.

The measure of this work is not what happens in the sessions. It is what happens in the boardrooms, the negotiations, the conversations and the decisions that follow. The goal is a principal who does not need the process to continue — because the change has been made at the level where it persists. Client independence is not a side effect. It is the design.

Discipline

Precision Under Pressure

Three decades inside the martial tradition — where economy of motion, restraint, and the precise application of force are non-negotiable. These are not metaphors in this work. They are the operating architecture. The same principles that govern a physical engagement govern a strategic one.

Elite Sport

The Sub-Perceptual Edge

The gap between the principal who closes the mandate and the one who does not is sub-perceptual. It lives in the language used, the state occupied, and the strategy running beneath conscious awareness. This work operates precisely there — not at the surface.

Commerce

Commercial Ground Truth

Thirty years inside commercial leadership — boardrooms, negotiations, restructures, crises, and significant wins. Every principle in KX:1 Apex has been applied in those conditions. Not simulated. Not theoretical. Applied, under pressure, at the level where results are the only currency.

Rikki Lear — life beyond the work: family, training, travel, and home

The Architect · In Full

I'm Rikki. Forty-six this year, based in Derby, and at one of those points in life where the thing you've been building toward becomes the thing you actually do.

Three decades in senior commercial leadership — regional director, P&L responsibility, teams of hundreds. Alongside that: thirty years inside the Bujinkan martial tradition, third dan in Ninjutsu. Elite performance coach for the GB Men's American Football programme. And more recently, advanced training in the behavioural and cognitive sciences that underpins everything KX:1 Apex delivers.

Alongside senior commercial leadership, Rikki has worked with founders and entrepreneurs navigating the specific pressures of building and scaling — environments where the gap between capability and how much of it arrives is often most acute.

KX:1 stands on a formula written by Tim Gallwey in 1974 and carried around the world by Sir John Whitmore — and moves beyond it. Performance is capability, times how much of you arrives. I've spent my career on both sides of that equation, and quietly understanding that most of what compresses a principal isn't strategic. It's structural. It was installed long before anyone's career began. That's the work.

When I'm not in the room with a principal, I'm usually watching football (the round one and the American one), being out-stubborned by two cats called Loki and Megatron, or somewhere on the other side of the world with my family. The home life is where everything is recharged. The work is where it's deployed.

Rikki has worked across commercial, athletic, and leadership environments with men and women at every level of senior performance.

The endorsement

The outcomes of this work are specific. Goals rebuilt from the foundation. Beliefs addressed at root level. States accessible on demand. Strategies redesigned at the level where they were built. A principal who operates differently — not through effort, but through a different operating system.

The engagement is private. The selection is deliberate. The result is calibrated to the individual.

The work is private. The principals are selective. The outcome is calibrated.
