KX:1 PERFORM

When physical capability is no longer the limiting factor.

For moments when training evidence and competitive expression diverge—and the difference deserves diagnosis rather than another instruction.

Who it is for

Athletes, coaches, teams and performance programmes.

01

Recognisable challenges

Training performance not transferring to competition; execution changing under pressure; hesitation or overthinking; confidence becoming context-dependent; skill becoming less fluent when the moment matters; challenge being poorly matched to current capability.

02

What we examine

Task demand, evidence of current capability, the conditions under which performance changes, attentional demands, interference, challenge fit, the environment, and patterns across stronger and weaker performances.

03

How work begins

Start with one real performance event. Compare what was available, what changed and what arrived rather than treating pressure as a verdict on the athlete.

04

Possible intervention

Depending on diagnosis, work may involve skill development, rehearsal, competition simulation, attention work, behavioural routines, coaching intervention, environmental adjustment or performance-state work.

05

Intended outcome

More reliable access to capability when performance matters, with clearer decisions about what genuinely needs development and what needs release or redesign.

06

Boundaries

PERFORM complements—not replaces—technical coaching, sports medicine, clinical psychology or safeguarding responsibilities.

Diagnosis before technique

We do not begin with a favourite intervention.

Work starts with one real performance event. We compare what was available, what changed and what arrived before selecting an intervention.

Method follows diagnosis. No intervention is assumed to suit every person or problem.

How the work develops

From event to evidence.

01

Define

Identify one real performance moment and define what the situation required.

02

Evidence

Establish what is known about the capability available and separate observation from interpretation.

03

Compare

Examine where performance changes across competition, training, demands or moments.

04

Diagnose

Form the best-supported working explanation while retaining credible alternatives.

05

Intervene

Select a proportionate response. This may involve development, release, redesign or clearer performance management.

06

Review

Observe what changes beyond the session and decide whether the evidence supports or weakens the original diagnosis.

The method follows the diagnosis. The diagnosis remains open to evidence.
